Lamplighter Preschool was established in 1983. We have been providing the highest quality of childcare for over 30 years to generations of residents in the Napanee area. As a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization, our priority has always been the children.
We are governed by members of a volunteer Board of Directors. They generously give their time and effort to ensure that Lamplighter Preschool is able to continue to provide the quality childcare service for which it is known. At Lamplighter Preschool we employ educators who are passionate about early childhood education. We strive to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of each child enrolled in our program. It does not matter what gender, race, culture, developmental or behavioural needs they may have.
Our program has stimulating, hands-on, appropriate activities. These activities introduce and develop skills and enhance each child’s creativity and sense of discovery. We are proud to be the first licensed centre to offer infant spaces in Napanee and proud to be the first in Lennox and Addington County to have a naturalized playground.
The Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care program (CWELCC) is a provincial program funded by the Ministry of Education. Child care is a national priority and the Government of Canada has identified early learning and childhood development and its Educators, as an important part for all families with children under the age of 6 years old enrolled in licensed child care programs.
Lamplighter Preschool has been approved to utilize this funding for parent fee reductions and enhancing our quality, accessibility, affordability and inclusivity.
CWELCC’s Workforce Compensation funding will also enhance RECE’s working in the sector that are earning low wage levels. As part of the provincial strategy, this Compensation is to achieve a system growth and ensure increased recruitment and retention of RECE’s.
Lamplighter Preschool and Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington Social Services (PELASS) will be working together to ensure all required guidelines are met.
Over the course of the next few years, parent fees will reduce in accordance to the steps outlined by the Ministry of Education. Our current rates are shown in the Programs tab under each age group.
